Plaxico Burress

So everyone knows that I am a huge giants fan right. And although I wasnt very welcoming of Plaxico when he got to NY, he grew on me. Even when he was having his little temper tantrums I gave the man the benefit of the doubt. Then he goes and shoots himself. Plaxico Burress is a Knucklehead or as Barack would say, a Jackass. I dont feel sorry for him and personally feel his punishment was too light. Im tired of listening to people say oh hes just being singled out because hes a star. What! This brother goes into a NY night club with an unregistered gun from florida and shoots himself and people are upset he get 2 years. Yeah that makes sense unless your son or daughter was in the club where his gun went off right. I mean this is the bottom line. If I walked into a nyc nightclub with an unregistered gun and shot myself I would get the mandatory minimum sentence of 3 1/2 years plus. He got 2 years. How I dont even know. Talk about preferential treatment. Now people might be looking for sympathy from me on this but they wont get it. Unfortunately this is one of the few laws that I actually tend to agree with. And were I the mayor of a town with a gun problem like new york and philly and newark have, I would use Plaxico Burress as posterboy for what I wont allow in my city. So why is Mayor bloomberg taking heat for doing just that. Shouldnt we be happy he wasnt pushing for the maximum sentence which is what I would do. Plaxico Burress can afford to get his gun registered. Plaxico can afford bodyguards. Plaxio should grow up and accept the consequences of his actions. When I got my DUI a couple of years ago I didnt blame anyone but myself. I felt the penalty was stiff but all I could think is imagine if I had fallen asleep and hit a child. Imagine if Plaxicos gun had hit someone elses child at that club. Not Cool.
Finally I need for black people in America to stop blindly taking the side of our brothers and sisters when they behave badly. The best thing we can do is to praise eachother for our accomplishments and be prepared to condemn each other when we fail each other. Its the only way to lift our society up and give credibility to our race. Kanye West, ACORN, Serena Williams, Plaxico Burress, and Michael Vick all behaved badly. Stop defending them. Stop making excuses for them. You make a mistake, face the consequences and move on. Alright, thats all I've got.
